Team Defense Projections – Week 11

Below are our projected Team Defensive Fantasy Points (based on ESPN Standard Scoring) for Week 11 of the 2017 NFL Season. These projections are from a model that takes into account a number of variables including team and player offensive and defensive metrics, situational factors in the game (such as, indoors or outdoors, divisional game, days of rest, and more), and lastly overall team rating measured by statistics such as our Elo Ratings.

Here we go in Week 11 where kings stay kings with the Jaguars yet to be bumped from their throne of defensive excellence. Matching up with Cleveland this week, it’s reasonable to expect the Jaguars to lead your team in scoring this week if you find yourself so lucky to have them in your D/ST slot. As for the rest of us that aren’t so fortunate, here’s who we have this week:

Must Starts:

BAL @ GB (Proj: 7.9 pts)

AZ @ HOU (Proj: 9.1 pts)

DET @ CHI (Proj: 6.3 pts)

Streamers I Like:

HOU vs AZ (Proj: 9.0 pts): Houston has been an incredibly inconsistent D/ST this season posting four double digit scoring weeks while also dipping into the negatives on three other occasions. However, with the Cardinals electing to start Blaine Gabbert this week on the road, I like the chances that Houston has one of their better scoring outings in Week 11.

LAC vs BUF (Proj: 8.5 pts) On the subject of quarterback debuts (at least as a starter), get ready to see the Nathan Penterman show in Buffalo this weekend with Tyrod Taylor getting sent to the pine. This was a pretty bizarre move for a Bills team that is still somewhat in the playoff picture, but nonetheless, fantasy streamers like us can benefit with the Chargers defense coming into play. In truth, LA’s defense hasn’t been too shabby this season – allowing just over 19 points per game to opponents – but they haven’t made a ton of noise in the fantasy world. Owned in just 32.4% of leagues, consider them a legit streaming option this week.

CIN @ DEN (Proj: 6.4 pts) As stated last week, the Broncos are a very legitimating stream-against option with Brock Osweiler behind center, and the Patriots scoring 13 fantasy points certainly helped solidify that case. Cincinnati has had its struggles defensively, but are certainly a viable enough option this week given the circumstances – even with Brock’s fine display of accuracy on this play last week. Oh, and don’t look past the fact that both teams wear a lot of orange. Take that as you wish.

Not Sold:

PHI @ DAL (Proj: 5.7 pts)

SEA @ ATL (Proj: 7.1 pts)

DEN vs CIN (Proj: 11.2 pts)
