I’d like to start this post by offering my sincerest of apologies to all 6 of my loyal readers for not making a Man vs Model blog last week. Circumstances arose that had me scrambling around all week but that’s no excuse. When you make a commitment to fight a machine, you fight the machine week in and week out. I’d also like to preface these picks by saying I just took the GRE and my brain is a little fried. Been studying all week so I haven’t done my usual research before the picks but in a sense that just forces me to make my picks based even more on feel and gut reaction. No way that goes poorly. Let’s go.

Baltimore vs Chicago | Model Says:Ravens -6.5

Last time I took a stab at going with Chicago they got blown out of Green Bay. It feels like Chicago is on a week-to-week kind of run where they look decent one week, then terrible the next. The defense played pretty well considering all of their injuries Monday night against Minnesota and I actually liked what I saw out of the 10 GAWD. I think he takes another step forward this weekend.

Final Prediction: Chicago +6.5

Detroit vs New Orleans | Model Says: Under 50

This is 100% a gut pick. I saw that the model liked the under and without even checking the total went with the over. Drew Brees and Matt Stafford on the same field? Sounds like a shit ton of points to me. The total could have been at 70 and I still would have hammered that over.
Final Prediction:Over 50

Minnesota vs Green Bay | Model Says: Over 46.5

This is going to be a dogfight. One of the best defenses in the game up against arguably the best quarterback currently playing. Also, people sometimes forget that Zimmer kind of has Rodgers number. Not sure on the exact stats (not a nerd) but he’s done better than most as a defensive coordinator and head coach against Green Bay. Add on the fact that I’m going to be in attendance, at the Bank, breathing down Rodgers’s neck, in his ear whole for 60 minutes, and I’d be surprised if the Packers cross midfield.
Final Prediction: Under 46.5

Additional Picks

Detroit +5 vs. New Orleans: Did I read that right? Saints are 5 point favorites? Give me the Lions every day of the week and twice on Sunday…. but really just the one time on Sunday. Only need them to win once.

Tampa Bay vs. Arizona Under 45: Arizona added AP (as first reported by Hammer the Over) to try to bolster their run game. Not sure if anyone outside of Minnesota knows this, but AP STINKS. He STINKS. Sure he’s a hall of famer and one of the most dynamic backs of all time, but he stinks now.

Minnesota +3 vs. Green Bay: Talked a little about this game earlier but gotta give the edge to Vikes at home. This isn’t a homer pick (it’s a homer pick), I actually really like this line. Case Montana is going to have the offense firing on all cylinders and Diggs and Thielen are going to have monster games because I need them to have monster games because I said some things while mildly inebriated at a bachelor party regarding the receivers for the Vikings that I can’t take back. Need this one like I need air.
