Merry playoffs, and welcome to the Week 15 edition of the Model 284 Friday Fantasy Preview. If you are looking for a blend of numbers and subjectivity to help guide your lineup, then this is the right place for you.
Player Notes From Week 15:
Aaron Rodgers: Rodgers is back, and as such is a viable starting option. Even rusty (which he probably isn’t) and playing a decent defense in the Panthers, Rodgers is the best QB in the NFL and should be treated as such.
Week 15 Studs:
Case Keenum: I’ve written about Keenum in previous weeks and in other articles this week, but it doesn’t matter. I’m going to keep jamming him down your throats until his is owned and started in almost every league. In fantasy football, the only thing that doesn’t lie is the fantasy points. He is 13th in fantasy points per game for healthy QBs on the season, and he missed one game and came in halfway through another. With a good matchup against the Bengals at home, there probably aren’t many better options out there.
Josh Gordon: At this point, the Browns need to just sign Gordon to 7 year contract before he further dominates. With only 2 games, neither of which includes 5 catches or 100 yards, Gordon looks incredible. He is still one of the most talented receivers in the league, and won’t be held back by the state of his team. Don’t be surprised when he ends the year as the Browns leading receiver.
Marquise Goodwin: Goodwin is a talented receiver, who has struggled all year to find production with inferior QB play. With the reigns turned over to Jimmy Garoppolo he has found his footing and posted his top 2 games in terms of catches for the season, while averaging 102.5 yards per game. Against a very average pass defense in Tennessee, he should continue to roll this week.
Week 15 Duds:
Jared Goff: Goff being as competitive as he’s been this season is a great story, but his success throwing the football is starting to taper off. This week he is playing Seattle, which is a tough matchup even missing Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor. Goff has struggled to prove himself against good defenses all year. His last 4 games have all been against teams that fall into that category, and he is averaging just under 15 points a game in those matchups.
LeGarrette Blount: Blount has been a solid, but not great back this year. He has been in a backfield split the entire season, and just lost the primary role to Jay Ajayi. Plain and simple, you can’t start a running back who could easily end up with only 5 touches, in a win or go home game.
Corey Coleman: I love Coleman as a receiver, and I fully believe he will be a productive player throughout his career. The problem here is that this offense can only support 1 good receiving game at a time, and you already know that I believe it’s coming from Josh Gordon.
